Konstantin Adzhemov

Константин Христофорович Аджемов

3 April 1911 - 9 June 1985

Adzhemov studied with Boris Berlin and Konstantin Igumnov, graduating from the Moscow Conseravtory in 1937. He took postgraduate courses in chamber with Alexander Gedike, and became his assistant in 1944.

He taught piano at the Gnessin Academy from 1953, and became a professor in 1967. His students include Dmitry Blagoy and Lev Vlassenko.

Additionally he had a long career as an editor and broadcaster for All-Union radio.

Recordings: I have uploaded three wonderful recordings by him: Rachmaninoff's first piano sonata (which Adzhemov's teacher Igumnov premiered), and the Debussy Ballade and a Prelude. There is also a 1977 LP that includes Beethoven, Liszt, Debussy, Casella and Medtner.
