Tigran Alikhanov

Тигран Абрамович Алиханов

b. 22 January 1943

Alikhanov studied at the Central Music School with Anaida Sumbatyan, and at the Moscow Conservatory with Lev Oborin, graduating in 1966, followed by postgraduate work through 1969.

He placed eighth at the 1967 Long-Thibaud Competition.

Since 1992 Alikhanov has been head professor of the Chamber Ensemble Department at the Moscow Conservatory.

Melodiya released a 1972 LP of Alikhanov playing Bach, Berg, Liszt and Khachaturian. There is also a chamber CD of Taneyev and Mendelssohn on the same label, and a Conservatory CD of Alikhanov in recital between 1960-1990, released in 2008.
